Cuckoo Leghorns
Make that Egg Basket Pop, by adding a Colorful White Egg Layer to your Flock.

How did we get cuckoo leghorns? Well it was just luck. As you all know on a few breeds we  brought in more or the entire breed from Sandhill Preservation Center. They really do have quite a few rare breeds, if anyone is interested in preserving them and breeding them to the standard. Well, we didn't order these but with our Buff Leghorns that they sent this year, in order to make sure the chicks had enough company to keep warm they sent "Barred Leghorns". Yep Barred not Cuckoo. That is what they call them on their site, but as you read about them on their breed page. They mention they are more of a cuckoo pattern. Now I am not saying that Barred Leghorns don't exist, but as I was looking at the possibility of keeping them, I found that Cuckoo Leghorns do exist but not  as many are found here as in Europe. Point being there is a Standard already written for them and ready to go and these birds that I received show the cuckoo pattern instead of a barred pattern, so that is what we are going with.

More Research Needed

When you get new birds, there is almost always some type of fault that needs perfecting. It looks like that this variety needs assistance in the males shank and foot color. Unless I am wrong, which I will do more research, the males should have yellow shanks and feet, like the hens portray.
